Hi, I’m Johanna Johnston, founder of Riversbend Paddle Co. I first got into kayaking as a fun, low-impact way to get moving—and it changed my life. What began as a personal goal to be more active became a 100-pound weight loss journey and a new appreciation for the quiet beauty of Southern Aroostook County.

Kayaking quickly became more than exercise—it was freedom, serenity, and a way to explore the hidden corners of Northern Maine. With no local kayak rental service in the Houlton area, I saw an opportunity to help others experience what had inspired me.
